My computer tells me that by renaming any file we are changing file type extension?

whenever i rename any application like text document it says that by changing the file type extension it will become unstable. So i have to every time type .txt while renaming text document. This problem did’nt arise before. please help.

In the file folder, if you’re on vista+, then press alt > go to tools > folder options > view tab and then check ‘hide extensions for known file types’.

If you’re on xp-, skip pressing alt.

Now instead of seeing ‘text.txt’, you will see ‘text’
