How to erase a hard drive for a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop?

A friend gave me his Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop computer and I need to erase the hard drive. It has a bunch of stuff I don’t use or need. Thanks.

You can use any partitioner you want. You obviously don’t already have a preference though, so my personal recommendation is gparted: http://gparted.sourceforge.net
